Association of friends and sponsors of the RuhrTriennale, a registered charity
The central role of the association is to promote the RuhrTriennale both ideally and by providing material support. Like the board of trustees, the association strives to achieve a broad effect and to anchor the festival in the hearts of people in the Ruhr District and North Rhine-Westphalia as well as both nationwide and internationally.
The association supports the RuhrTriennale in realizing its artistic projects. It can also use the means at its disposal to for the preservation or improvement of the festival venues or to for work in the field of publicity. The exhibition Photographs of the RuhrTriennale 2002-2007 was sponsored by the association. It plays the role of ambassador, bringing both the festival and the region closer to international audiences. First showings took place in the foyer of the state parliament in Düsseldorf and at the North-Rhine Westphalian mission in Brussels. In 2008 the exhibition can be seen in Paris amongst other places.
Members of the association
- are invited to the presentation of the programme by the director at the annual general meeting. At the reception afterwards they can meet and exchange thoughts with the artists.
- have the exclusive right to reserve tickets for all events, including premieres, one day before official advance booking starts.
- are invited to attend public final dress rehearsals.
- are invited as guests to Prolog, the traditional opening of the festival with international authors, directors, musicians and actors.

I am, however, certain that the coming year will prove anything but 'dangerous' and that the RuhrTriennale will continue its political and cultural triumphal march. Who would have thought that the RuhrTriennale would in so short a time succeed in becoming one of the most artistically demanding and innovative festivals in the world? Among other sources it draws its strength from the incomparable monuments of industrial culture. It not only preserves this heritage but assigns it new tasks and thus new meaning for today.«
