Hasti Molavian

The Mezzo-Soprano Hasti Molavian was born in Tehran, Iran, in 1988. She started as a violonist and played several years in different chamber orchestras in Teheran. Since 2007 she studies at the Folkwang University of the Arts, Essen, Voice/Music Theatre under professor Rachel Robins. As a member of ChorWerk Ruhr she performs in numerous projects directed by Rupert Huber and Florian Helgath.
A main focus of Hasti Molavian's work is contemporary music. She regularly collaborates with professor Günter Steinke: Amongst others she performed Luigi Nono's La fabbrica illuminata at Zeche Zollverein, Essen, Helmut Lachenmann's themA, Pina Bausch Theater, Folkwang UdK, Essen, Steve Reich's Tehillim and John Cage's Aria for unaccompanied voice at Essen Philharmonie. 2010 she was sholarship holder of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Since September 2011 Hasti Molavian is a member of the Young Opera Dortmund.
At the Ruhrtiennale she was taking part in Schönberg's Moses und Aron (2009) and in Samir Odeh-Tamimi's Leila und Madschnun (2010).
