International Festival Campus

Research and Experience

Jahrhunderthalle becomes a festival campus: students from European art academies and theater institutes can visit Ruhrtriennale and take part in seminars and workshops that accompany the festival. Upcoming artists and directors leave their places of training and contribute their own artistic and discursive expertise in discussions and project work on site.

In the inspiring atmosphere of the festival, they can collect visual experience, speak about what they have seen, and share their insights across disciplinary boundaries.

This laboratory is directed at students in the fields of theater studies, theater design, dance, dramaturgy, and directing. The participation of teachers from all these various fields provides students with a new perspective and directs their attention toward new contexts.

The Festival Campus can offer new perspectives in artistic practice and the possibility of initiating a vital debate, both among the participants themselves as well as with the team at Ruhrtriennale and the performers and directors involved. An intense engagement with theater as a reality all its own is of central concern.
