Rolf Dieter Brinkmann

Rolf Dieter Brinkmann (1940-1975) finally decided to be a freelance writer after initially training to be a bookseller and then a teacher. From the beginning of the 60s Brinkmann published both poetry and prose. He introduced the underground lyrics of the Beat generation to Germany. His lyrical opus magnum Westwärt 1 & 2 is considered one of the most important volumes of poetry of the twentieth century.
