Mose Allison

Mose Allison, born in 1927 in the Mississippi Delta, is a jazz-pianist, singer, and one of the greatest songwriters of the century. In his youth he worked in the cotton-fields and at the same time played in a variety of bands and also with B.B. King.  In 1965 he went to New York, where his career really took off.  From then until now he has released 28 albums.  Many famous artists have covered his songs, including The Who (Young Man Blues), Elvis Costello (Everybody’s Cryin’ Mercy), The Clash (Look Here) and Van Morrison (Tell Me Something).  Up to this day he stills plays 150 concerts a year.  In 2006 he was invited into the Long Island Hall of Fame.
