VocaalLAB Nederland
VocaalLAB Nederland is an international studio and production house for singers and composers.It develops new vocal music in combination with theatre, dance, film, visual art and other art forms. It provides a platform for development, specialisation and exposure for young performing and creative musical talent and offers singers and composers room to gain the experience and knowledge that is essential to their future careers in the world of contemporary vocal music. In the six years it has existed, VocaalLAB has developed a network of soloists, which is regularly drawn on by orchestras, theatre companies, production houses, music ensembles, festivals and opera houses. In recent years VocaalLAB published at least twenty substantial compositions a year. The Lutheran Church (Lutherse Kerk) in Zaandam functions as VocaalLAB’s home venue. VocaalLAB uses two work spaces in the church for rehearsal, experiment and performance. In the Netherlands, VocaalLAB appears at leading festivals and venues, such as the Kameropera Festival in Zwolle, International Gaudeamus Music Week, Koorbiënnale in Haarlem, Oerol Festival, Festival Karavaan, Theatre Festival Boulevard, November Music, Underground Festival, Operadagen Rotterdam and De Doelen’s Red Sofa series. VocaalLAB is a frequent guest at leading international festivals of contemporary music, including Festival Wien Modern, Donaueschinger Musiktage, ICMC Festival in Barcelona, CDMC Madrid, Festival Musica in Alicante, Festival Music of our Age Budapest, Re-New Copenhagen, Europäisches Zentrum der Künste Hellerau and festivals in Ljubljana and Belfast.
