Stephanie Engeln

Born in Duesseldorf, Germany, Stephanie Engeln studied Interior Architecture and Design in Germany. Since 1985 she has signed set, costume and lighting designs in theater and opera as well as worked on exhibitions, museum installations and hotel interiors.
In 1989, at the Schauspielhaus Frankfurt, she collaborated for the first time with Robert Wilson on Shakespear's King Lear, featuring Marianne Hoppe in the title role. Many projects with Mr. Wilson have followed in all the fields of the Arts, Theater and Opera across Europe, Asia and the USA. Among many others she collaborated with Robert Wilson on his iconic productions of Puccinis Madama Butterfly, Debussy's Pelleas et Melisande as well as the Ruhrtriennale's production of The Temptations of St. Anthony in 2004.
Stephanie is currently working on a book about Robert Wilson's entire body of work scheduled to be published in Autumn 2014 by the French Edition Photosyntheses.
