Hubert Machnik

Composer and guitarist Hubert Machnik, born in Frankfurt am Main in 1955, has played in various ensembles and orchestras primarily in the realm of new music. From 1981 to 1989, he was a member of Ensemble Modern. Hubert Machnik composed piano and chamber music, music for the stage, dance, film, and audiovisual installations, computer music, electronic music, and so-called radio pieces. His travels around the world have taken him to Tokyo, New York, Montreal, Toronto, São Paulo, and many cities across Europe.

He has been guest professor at Universität Gießen (Computermusik/Multi Media Anwendungen) and developed Humboldt/Pym-Travelogue & Prospekt\ion (Lefkada & Thessaloniki, National Theatre of Greece). In 2013, he was awarded the Civitella Ranieri Fellowship in New York. He has also worked with the Berliner Philharmoniker, Blindman Saxophonquartett, deufert&plischke, Anouk van Dijk Dance Company, Richard Siegal, Arto Lindsay, Vollrad Kutscher, and the William Forsythe Company. He has worked with Heiner Goebbels, the artistic director of the Ruhrtriennale from 2012 to 2014, for many years.
