Douglas Gordon

Douglas Gordon is undoubtedly one of the most influential artists of his generation. Born in Glasgow in 1966, the winner of both the Turner and Kollwitz prizes now lives in Berlin and Glasgow. While came to prominence with films like 24 Hour Psycho and Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait, made in collaboration with Philippe Parreno, his work not only includes expansive video installations, but also photography, conceptual textual works, sculptural installations, and performances. With analyses of images from our collective memory and everyday culture, he reveals basic patterns of perception. His work dominates polarities such as life and death, good and evil, guilt and innocence, temptation and fear. In recent years, musical aspects have increasingly played a role in his works.
