Concerts at Maschinenhaus / Classical chamber music

Guy Braunstein, Ohad Ben-Ari, Chezy Nir

Each Monday evening of the festival, Ruhrtriennale presents a concert at Essen's Zeche Carl. With its balanced acoustics and intimate setting Maschinenhaus offers the perfect site for performing music in small ensembles. The usual frontal opposition of musicians and listeners is dissolved in favor of a situation of open music making and listening. The space provides audience and artists alike with the chance to come close to one another. The series alternates classical music and concerts with improvised music.

Guy Braunstein, first concertmaster of the Berliner Philharmoniker, opens the series of classical concerts with his chamber music partners the pianist Ohad Ben-Ari and the young horn player Chezy Nir.

Ludwig van Beethoven - Sonata for Piano and Violin in G major, op. 96 (1812)

Karol Szymanowski - Mythes, op. 30 (1915)

Robert Schumann - Adagio and Allegro for Piano and Horn, op. 70 (1849)

Johannes Brahms - Trio for Piano, Violin and Horn in E flat major, op. 40 (1865)
