As the title Folk. reveals, at issue here are communities. The stage is filled with people for us to observe them performing a ritual. Italian director and theater artist Romeo Castellucci presents a new piece in Duisburg. Castellucci’s works can be characterized by quite unique visual and sound stage aesthetics. His theatrical universes are strongly shaped by the fine arts, and allow wordless realism to collide with distant worlds never seen before. The audience is invited to experience this new production in an unusual spectator situation.

»All in all, the show is dedicated to characteristic forms of human behavior: community, separation, isolation. Observing from afar. Keeping safe. Being alone.« (Romeo Castellucci)
