Norbert Ommer

Norbert Ommer works as sound director with Ensemble Modern, where he is also a member of the board, and as a sound engineer with the WDR Big Band. He also works on a regular basis with the Berlin Philharmonic. He teaches sound direction at the International Ensemble Modern Akademie and Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt am Main and has taught master classed in Tokyo Wonder Site and Schwaz (Austria).
Norbert Ommer made a name for himself internationally at premieres of works by Frank Zappa, Heiner Goebbels, Steve Reich, Michael Brecker, Michael Gordeon, and others. In 2002, he was awarded the Golden Bobby from VDT Verband Deutscher Tonmeister and in 2004 was awarded the Echo Klassik Preis with Ensemble Modern.
Norbert Ommer is regular guest at many international festivals such as Festival d' Automne à Paris, Holland Festival, Salzburger Festspiele, BBC Proms, Donaueschinger Musiktage, Montreux Jazzfestival, Lincoln Center Festival, and North Sea Jazzfestival Amsterdam.
