Nikolay Borchev

The young baritone Nikolay Borchev has been a member of the ensemble of the Bayerische Staatsoper Munich since 2003 and sings roles like Papageno/Die Zauberflöte, Guglielmo/Cosi fan Tutte, Dandini/La Cenerentola, Figaro/Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Belcore/L'Elisir d'amore, Harlekin/Adriadne auf Naxos, Barbier/Die schweigsame Frau.
Nikolay Borchev was born in Pinsk/Belarus in 1980 and received his musical education at the Tschaikowsky Music Conservatory in Moscow and at the Hochschule for Musik "Hanns Eisler" with Heinz Reeh, Julia Varady and Wolfram Rieger. He won several prices at international vocal competitions. Borchev's concert repertory includes baroque, classical and modern compositions. He sang at the opera houses in Brussels, Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Bilbao, Basel, Valencia, Vienna as well as at the Festspiele in Schwetzingen, Baden-Baden, at the Pfingstfestspiele Salzburg, Innsbrucker Festwochen and at the Musikfestival Rheingau. Nikolay Borchev is a regular guest on the concert stage, and he gave concerts with the BR Munich, the Freiburger Barockorchester, the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, the Museumsorchester Frankfurt, the NPS Amsterdam, the London Mozart Players, the Münchner Kammerorchester, the Sinfonieorchester des Saarländischen Rundfunks, the RSO and DSO Berlin, in Detroit and in the Philharmonie Köln. He was invited for recitals, a.o. to Konzerthaus Dortmund, the Festspiele in Weimar and Mecklenburg Vorpommern, to Gran Canaria and to Vilabertran within the Schubertiade.
As of 2012/13 the artist will be a member of the Vienna State Opera for two years.
