Mandelring Quartett

The members of German Mandelring Quartet are the three siblings Sebastian, Nanette und Bernhard Schmidt (violins and violoncello), and Roland Glassl (viola). They received individual training at the music academies in Karlsruhe and Munich and the Karajan Foundation of the Berlin Philharmonic.
The Mandelring Quartet's successes winning several prestigious international competitions - Munich (ARD), Evian and Reggio Emilia (Premio Paolo Borciani) - brought immediate attention and launched the Quartet on an international career. Concert tours now bring them regularly to the major concert halls of Europe, North and South America, the Middle East and Asia.

The Mandelring Quartet presents a regular series of concerts in the Chamber Music Hall of the Berlin Philharmonic as well as in its home town: Neustadt, on Germany's Weinstrasse. The Mandelring Quartet has presented complete cycles of the 15 Shostakovich quartets - most prominently, at the Salzburg Festival. Additional performances in Bolzano and Berlin are to follow.
Nearly 30 CD recordings, among them the Quartets of Schubert, Schumann, Janácek and Shostakovich, have confirmed their exceptional quality and wide-ranging repertoire. The Mandelring Quartet is currently recording Mendelssohn's complete chamber music for strings.
