ChorWerk Ruhr

ChorWerk Ruhr, founded in 1999, is a professional vocal ensemble with a broad repertoire, ranging from early music to large-scale oratorios. Since its founding, they have held more than 160 concerts with music old and new in collaboration with prominent orchestras -- including Ensemble Resonanz, Concerto Köln, Musica Antiqua Köln, Ensemble musikFabrik, and Ensemble Modern. They have participated in several opera productions produced by Ruhrtriennale, the first in 2002.
Award winning conductor Florian Hegath has been artistic director of ChorWerk Ruhr since November 2011. He sees a focus of this work in placing a new spotlight on choral music in relationship to traditional music forms, giving it a new sound for the listener against the backdrop of a rich music history. With a young and flexible ensemble, he produces choral music of the highest quality.
