Thomas Hauert’s ZOO, a group of independents who together practice the most intelligent, most sensitive, funniest, most surprising, bravest, most virtuouso and most political form of dance that I’ve seen for a long time.  / Katja Werner, ballettanzYearbook 2009

Thomas Hauert und ZOO’s new piece is a continuation of their work on the relationship between music and dance. In You’ve changed, however, the movement was created in advance of the music and the inherent musicality of that dance serves as a model for the commissioned score by renowned musician Dick van der Harst. This composition – written for a three-piece band and three female voices – reacts to the movements which are consistently being generated afresh on stage out of the group’s constant intuitive communication, establishing a wealth of reciprocal connections between what the audience can hear and what they can see. In a virtuoso and unpredictable manner You’ve changedalso presents an interaction between the filmed movement projected during the performance and the live movements of the performers, of the camera and the lights.

The piece is a declaration of love for dance as a form, as a language and as a craft – the realization of a micro-utopia, taking movement and change as its point of departure and giving people both the freedom and the responsibility of acting. An invitation to reflect on our ideals and the changes in ourselves.
