Stefan Bachmann
was born in Zurich in 1966. He studied Humanities in Zurich and Berlin. He has worked as a freelance director in Bonn, Berlin, Hamburg, Vienna and Zurich. From 1998 to 2003 he was Drama Director of Theater Basel. In 2007 he directed ‘Scorched’ by Wajdi Mouawad at the Vienna Akademietheater (Nestroy Prize 2008 for ‘Best Director’) . His current productions at the Burgtheater are Lorenzaccio by Alfred de Musset and Ödön von Horváth’s Tales From The Vienna Woods. Stefan Bachmann’s production of The SilkSlipper was seen at the Ruhrtriennale 2003 in the Jahrhunderthalle Bochum.
