Necla Kelek

was born in Istanbul and lives in Berlin.  She has studied Business Administration and Sociology and took her Ph.D. in Greifswald.  Her books Die fremde Braut, Die verlorenen Söhne and Bittersüße Heimat are bestsellers and long-sellers and have had a lasting impact on the discussion of integration and Islam in Germany in recent years.  Necla Kelek has been awarded numerous prizes including the Geschwister Scholl Prize 2005 and most recently the Hildegard von Bingen Prize 2009.  She is a member of the German Islam Conference.
