Studio musikFabrik | Jugendensemble des Landesmusikrats NRW
The Landesmusikrat (Regional Music Council) of North Rhine Westphalia launched the ‘Regional Youth Ensemble for New Music’ as a pilot project at the beginning of 2006 and this is now supervised by the musikFabrik along with the Landesmusikrat. The ensemble is made up of excellent young musicians playing contemporary music under expert guidance. Since 2009 the musicians of the musikFabrik have coached their younger colleagues and prepared both chamber and ensemble pieces with them.
The ensemble has studied two programmes of world premieres with the musicians and composers for the Ensemblia Mönchengladbach and has distinguished itself in performances in the Cologne Philharmonie, WDR, the Folkwang Music School in Essen and the Tonhalle Düsseldorf. Their repertoire includes major works by Carola Bauckholt, Harrison Birtwistle, Toshio Hosokawa, Cornelius Cardew, Krzysztof Penderecki, Terry Riley and Edgard Varèse.
