Hagen Matzeit
After training as an electronic signal mechanic, the countertenor Hagen Matzeit studied singing (baritone) and education in Berlin. He took part in directing classes by Ruth Berghaus, Peter Konwitschny and Harry Kupfer. He made regular guest appearances at the Komische Oper Berlin with a repertoire spanning numerous periods and styles. Alongside enagements at Schauspiel Frankfurt, Nationaltheater Mannheim, the Opéra de Bastille in Paris and the Teatro Capitol in Toulouse he has also been invited to the Holland Festival in Amsterdam, Arts Music Bruxelles and the Melbourne Australian International. Together with his brother Friedemann Matzeit he writes music for theatre, film and television.
