Deniz Baspinar
was born in Cologne in 1972. She completed her diploma studies in Psychology at Cologne University. In 2008 her entry Zu Gast won WDR’s radio play competition on the theme Sind sie zu fremd, bist du zu deutsch (If they’re too foreign, you’re too German). In her column for ZEIT online she regularly writes about Germany and Germans with or without migrant backgrounds. She lives in Cologne, where she works as a psychotherapist.
