Bernhard Robben
studied Philosophy and History in Freiburg und Berlin. From 1983 to 1984 he worked as a German teacher in Bangor, Northern Ireland. In order to supplement his pay as a Fellow at Merton College, Oxford, he began working as a freelance journalist for the BBC in 1987 and also as a freelance translator for a wide range of German publishers. Now the winner of several prizes, he can look back on translations of two books by Salman Rushdie.
