Andrea Koschwitz

Andrea Koschwitz studied Theatre Studies at the Humboldt University Berlin and began her theatre work in 1984 as dramaturg for theatre at the City Theatre in Karl Marx Stadt/Chemnitz (which included dramaturgy for Heiner Müller’s Bau directed by Frank Castorf in 1986), the Mecklenburgischen Staatstheater Schwerin and the Berlin Schaubühne. From 1998 she worked at the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz with directors including Frank Castorf, Christoph Marthaler and Dimiter Gotscheff.  From 2004 to 2006 she was chief dramaturg at Staatsschauspiel Dresden.  Since the summer of 2006 she has been chief dramaturg at the Maxim Gorki Theater with directors including Armin Petras (Homburg, Heaven) and Jan Bosse (Werther, Anna Karenina) and led the projects Kloster der Wut (2007), Rebellion und Melancholie (2008) and Über Leben im Umbruch (2010).
