Wolfgang Gussmann
As a freelance set and costume designer, Walter Gussmann works predominantly with directors Willy Decker and Andreas Homoki. He has designed for numerous theatres including the state operas in Vienna, Munich, Hamburg and Dresden, the Deutsche Oper and Komische Oper in Berlin, the Salzburger Festspiele, as well as opera houses in Paris, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Tokyo and San Francisco. In 2001 he was honoured with the Ordre Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres for his contribution to French cultural life. Gussmann is also working as artistic advisor to Willy Decker, artistic director of the Ruhrtriennale for the period 2009 to 2011. Together they adapted Le Vin Herbé by Frank Martin for the Ruhrtriennale in 2007.
