Jordi Savall
For the past thirty years, the Catalan viola virtuoso, conductor, educator, researcher and author has become expert in discovering unjustly neglected or forgotten musical treasures. He has brought new life to ancient musical works and has set up numerous intercultural musical projects. He has played his viola da gamba all over the world, reaching audiences everywhere with the three ensembles he has founded: Hespèrion XXI, La Capella Reial De Catalunya and Les Concerts des Nations. His work has been recorded for more than 170 highly acclaimed award-winning CDs. Jordi Savall is a cultural ambassador for UNESCO, an Artist for Peace, and was patron of the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue 2008, under the banner Together in Diversity.
