Andrea Breth
The theatre and opera director Andrea Breth comes from near Füssen and studied literature at the University of Heidelberg. She has directed productions for numerous theatres including Bremen, Wiesbaden, Hamburg, Berlin, Zurich and Bochum, as well as for the Salzburg Festival. Since 1999 she has been an associate director at the Burgtheater Wien. Her productions are regularly awarded prizes and have frequently been invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen. As part of a series in 2005 dedicated to her work, Andrea Breth presented her production Nächte unter Tage at the Kokerei Zollverein. This year’s production of Kleist’s Der zerbrochene Krug marks the fifth time her work has been presented at the Ruhrtriennale.
