Drei Mal Leben von Yasmina Reza
Director Luc Bondy Stage designer Wilfried Minks Costume designer Rudy Sabounghi
Darsteller Premiere Burgtheater Wien / Akademietheater, 2000
A ZDF-film of the production at the Berliner Theatertreffen 2001, 103 min.

Henri and Sonja, a married couple, invite their also-married friends Hubert and Ines to dinner – in the hope that Hubert will be able to give Henri’s stagnant career a push up.  However Hubert and Ines turn up a day early by mistake and surprise their hosts in dressing-gowns, their son whining away and with very little to eat in the fridge.  In DREI MAL LEBEN, Yasmina Reza has once again succeeded in writing a furious comedy about the banality of everyday life that seamlessly follows on from her hits Art (1994) and The God of Carnage (2006).

Das weite Land
Luc Bondy Screenplay Lubor Meir Dohnal, Luc Bondy after Arthur Schnitzler Music Heinz Leonhardsberger Actors Gabriel Barylli, Dominique Blanc, Paul Burian, Friedrich Hammel, Wolfgang Hübsch, Jutta Lampe, Bulle Ogier, Michel Piccoli, Barbara Rebeschini, Milena Vucotic
1986 / 1987, 103 min.

At the heart of this film version of Schnitzler’s drama is a Viennese bourgeois family shortly before the outbreak of the First World War.  Schnitzler tells the story of the Hofreiter family in an exemplary fashion.  Friedrich Hofreiter views his marital infidelity as a freedom to which he has every right.  However his morality proves double-edged - he cannot stand the fact that his wife is also choosing to take a lover.

Ne fais pas ça!
Luc Bondy Buch Philippe Djian, Luc Bondy
Actors Nicole Garcia, Miki Manojlovic, Natacha Régnier, Fabrizio Rongione u. a.
2004, 90 min.
The film will be shown in German.

After an argument with her jealous husband Joël, Nicole moves out of their home and seeks refuge with her parents.  Whilst Joël is taking drastic measure to win Nicole back, she is finding the situation with her parents very tricky, because they too are in the middle of a crisis.

Triumph der Liebe
by Pierre Carlet de Chamblain de Marivaux
Director Luc Bondy Stage designer Karl-Ernst Herrmann Costume designer Moidele Bickel
Actors Paul Burian, Mathias Gnädinger, Thomas Holtzmann, Corinna Kirchhoff, Jutta Lampe, Libgart Schwarz, Ernst Stötzner
Premiere Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz, Berlin, 1985
A ZDF-recording of the production, 1986 , 140 min.

In this comedy of errors full of intrigue and aberration, with a cast of lovers and characters both disappointed and jealous, Bondy has staged his concept of love: »It is love’s obsessiveness that haunts my theatre. Theatre, ephemeral as it is, is precisely the right place to deal with the constantly-changing experience that is love.«

Die Ortliebschen Frauen
Luc Bondy Screenplay Luc Bondy nach Franz Nabl Music Peer Raben
Actors Enzi Fuchs, Edith Heerdegen, Sonja Karzau, Leslie Malton, Klaus Pohl, Libgart Schwarz, Elisabeth Stepanek
1979, 106 min.

The Ortlieb family live exclusively to keep the family together and every member is squeezed into a fixed role.  After their father’s death, the older daughter takes over as head of the family. Using mental pressure and violence, she prevents her brothers and sisters from breaking away from the family; the youngest brother is particularly victimised. Die Ortsliebschen Frauen is Luc Bondy’s first film.
