Mike Herting

Mike Herting learned the piano as a child from his grandmother who was a silent film pianist. As pianist, composer and producer he writes for theatre, radio, film and musicals. A long-standing musical friendship has linked him to Alto saxophonist Charlie Mariano and to the Tunisian musician Dhafer Youssef. Mike Herting has been guest conductor, composer and arranger for the WDR Big Band for the last ten years. He recorded the album Niedecken Köln with Wolfgang Niedecken and the WDR Big Band. Herting is a member of the KCP 5 quintet togetherwith the Southern Indian singer R. A. Ramamani and Charlie Mariano.
