Karl-Ernst Herrmann

Karl-Ernst Herrmann has been viewed as one of the top stage designers for the last 30 years. His visual language was a major force behind the ‘director’s theatre’ of the 1970’s. Since then he has worked closely with directors such as Peter Stein, Claus Peymann and Luc Bondy. Since the 1980’s, Karl-Ernst Herrmann, working together with his wife Ursel, has been much in demand as an opera director, with productions for and including Brussels Opera, Paris Opera and the Salzburg Festival. Karl-Ernst Herrmann designed the logo and complete graphic identity of the RuhrTriennale 2005-2008
