Joe Henry

Joe Henry has left permanent traces in American pop music during a career that has now lasted over 20 years. His songs have been musical milestones in Soul, Jazz, Rock ’n’ Roll and Country. His sister-in-law, Madonna, described the songwriter as a »lyrical giant« in the New York Times and engaged him for her album Confessions on a Dance Floor. He has written music for film and television, produced songs for the Bob Dylan film I’m Not There and for Judd Apatow’s Comedy Knocked Up. As a producer Joe Henry has worked with greats such as Elvis Costello, Allen Toussaint, Ani DiFranco, Mary Gauthier, Bettye LaVette and Aimee Mann.

He won a Grammy Award for his collaboration with Soloman Burkes on the CD Don’t Give Up On Me. His own CD Civilians has featured on many top recommended lists over the last year and is undoubtedly one of his finest recordings. Joe Henry lives near Los Angeles, California with his wife and children.
