Gert Voss

Gert Voss was born in Shanghai and studied at the Universities of Tübingen and Munich where he also took acting lessons. He made his debut in Konstanz and came to the Bochum theatre under Claus Peymann’s artistic direction via the stages of Braunschweig, Munich and Stuttgart. In 1986 Voss moved with Peymann to the Burgtheater in Vienna, and has since played numerous leading roles there. Alongside successive Actor of the Year awards, Gert Voss has been the recipient of major prizes such as the Gertrud-Eysoldt-Ring and the Nestroy Prize.

Gert Voss has enjoyed major successes with directors including Peter Stein, Peter Zadek, Luc Bondy, George Tabori, Thomas Ostermeier and Thomas Langhoff.
