Thomas Bernhard’s pleasure in the Pawlatsch theatre; which is staged open air and in backyards, and his joy in the floor show gave the theatre genre a row of inventive mini dramas, staging the three mini dramas Claus Peymann verläßt Bochum und geht als Burgtheaterdirektor nach Wien, Claus Peymann kauft sich eine Hose und geht mit mir essen und Claus Peymann und Hermann Beil auf der Sulzwiese.
Thomas Bernhard devoted this mini dramas to real characters and at the same time, by means of comic and grotesque exaggeration, created magnificent and typical examples of what may happen in particular and in general in the mad world of theatre. There could be no more authentic cast than with Claus Peymann and Hermann Beil. For the first time, they perform as the theatre berserk Peymann, as the legendary Miss Schneider, as the dramatic adviser Beil who is constantly saying »of course« and as the poet himself of this absurd theatre slapstick.
