Anneliese Brost Musikforum Ruhr

The Anneliese Brost Musikforum Ruhr was opened in October 2016 at Bochum's Marienplatz, adjacent to the 19th century Marienkirche. The building integrates the secularised church and gives it a new function: It serves as entrance and foyer for the two performance halls of the house. The larger of the two halls can accommodate around 960 visitors.

After 15 years of joint work by citizens, companies, cities and governments as well as the EU, it was possible to create a house for the Bochum Symphony Orchestra, which until then had rehearsed in an industrial building outside the city centre. Today the Anneliese Brost Musikforum Ruhr is a place for music of all kinds. Numerous projects sharpen and expand the profile of the Musikforum - for example, the Bochumer Symphoniker works together with Klavier-Festival Ruhr, CHORWERK RUHR or the orchestras of the region.
