Los Años/ Die Jahre

After the great success of Diamante (2018) the writer and director Mariano Pensotti returns to the Ruhrtriennale with Los Años. Here he tells the story of one man at two different points in his life. We see the same person as a young man full of ideas and as an elderly man with what became of those ambitions. It is performed simultaneously by two actors in two rooms side by side.

The young man is creating a film of a young boy in a poor district of Buenos Aires who lives on his own which he wants to use to launch his career as a documentary filmmaker. He leaves the wife with whom he has a daughter. Decades later, he tries to track down the person who was the subject of his film, separates from his second wife and attempts to repair his relationship with his daughter.
