Cevdet Erek

Cevdet Erek lives and works as an artist and musician in Istanbul. He studied architecture at the Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts in Istanbul and sound engineering and design at the Center for Advanced Studies in Music at Istanbul Technical University, where he received his doctorate in 2011 and now teaches. In 2012, he received the Nam June Paik Award for Media Art from the Kunststiftung NRW and was represented at Documenta (13) in Kassel with the installation Room of Rhythms. In 2017, he represented Turkey at the Venice Biennale with his work ÇIN. Cevdet Erek is a drummer in the avant-garde rock band Nekropsi, which he co-founded. He regularly performs as a musician with the traditional Davul bass drum. In 2017, Subtext Recordings released his first Davul LP.
