Barbara Ehnes

Idea, Concept, Artistic Direction

Barbara Ehnes studied fine arts, stage design and literature. She designs stage sets for the Munich Kammerspiele, the Salzburg Festival, the Volksbühne and the Staatsoper Berlin. Since 2000 she has collaborated regularly with the directors Stefan Pucher, Stefan Bachmann, Schorsch Kamerun, Sebastian Baumgarten and choreographer Meg Stuart. Since 2006, she has been creating her own installation and performance works such as "Istanbul", "Transgelinler" and "Die schwarze Botin – remastered and remistressed" in 2013. From 2001 to 2009 Ehnes was a member of the artistic management team of the Münchner Kammerspiele. In 2005, she received the German stage award Opus and in 2012, together with Chris Kondek, the German theatre prize Der Faust. Ehnes has been a professor of stage design at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Dresden since 2011.
