Bergama is the Turkish name for the ancient city of Pergamon. In the architectural construction with sound Bergama Stereo the Turkish artist and musician Cevdet Erek uses the form, proportions and historical reception of the Pergamon Altar in Berlin. However, in place of the famous gigantomachy frieze he has constructed a monumental frieze out of loudspeakers with 30 separate audio channels. A concert and performance programme taking place within the exhibition forms an integral part of the work.
