This year we will turn the poplar trees in front of the Jahrhunderthalle in Bochum into a garden for visitors: members of the audience are most welcome to enjoy sustainable produce sourced within the region in the cool shade. Discover the wide range of vegetarian and vegan dishes and enjoy our delicacies in this unique atmosphere: our sustainable, fairtrade menu will cater for everyone’s desires even though this year we have made a deliberate decision to exclude meat.
The poplar canteen a place to linger, where artists, the festival team and our audience can meet, a place with few barriers to communication and exchange. Whether you want a glass of sparkling wine before the performance or something to sustain you for a walk in the park, you will be welcome here. In conceiving our culinary festival centre, we have focussed on reducing waste and upcycling, on regional variety and international dishes and thus enliven the small grove of 311 poplars that was planted in 2006 under the directorship of Jürgen Flimm in cooperation with the city of Bochum and due to numerous donations from citizens.
We look forward to your visit!
