Rafael Stachowiak

Rafael Stachowiak was born in 1981 and studied drama at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin. As a student he performed at the Deutsches Theater in Thomas Dannemann’s production of Horvàth’s ‘Glaube Liebe Hoffnung’. In 2006, during the third year of his course, he was employed by the Schaubühne at Lehniner Platz in Berlin. There he worked with directors such as Falk Richter, Luk Perceval, Thomas Ostermeier, Benedict Andrews and Constanza Macras. He played Orin/Christoph in Ostermeier’s production of ‘Mourning Becomes Electra’ by Eugene O´Neill and Achilles in Perceval’s version of ‘Penthesilea’ by Kleist. In 2007 he performed in Falk Richter’s ‘Freischütz’ production at the Salzburg Festspielen. Stachowiak also appears frequently on film and TV.

Following his time at the Schaubühne at Lehniner Platz, Rafael Stachowiak started his second long-term contract at Thalia during the 2009/2010 season. Here he has appeared in countless productions, including work by Antú Romero Nunes, Luk Perceval and Stefan Pucher.
