Barbara Nüsse

Barbara Nüsse was born in Essen in 1943 and studied drama at the Otto Falckenberg School in Munich. She has worked with the likes of Hans Lietzau at the Residenztheater in Munich, Hansgünther Heyme and Roberto Ciulli in Cologne and Claus Peymann and Nils Peter Rudolph in Stuttgart and Bochum. From 1980-1985 Barbara Nüsse performed at the Schauspielhaus in Hamburg, after which she acted at the Schillertheater in Berlin from 1986-1989 and also developed her own projects with director Ulrich Waller.

From 1989 she worked in Basel, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Zurich, Munich and Hamburg with Barbara Bilabel, Kazuko Watanabe, Thirza Bruncken, Elke Lang, Werner Schroeter, Wilfried Minks, B.K. Tragelehn, David Mouchtar-Samourai and Christoph Marthaler. She has been awarded various different prizes and honours, most recently in March 2010 when she was honoured with the 2009 Gertrud Eysoldt Ring by the city of Bensheim, which she received principally for her performance as ‘King Lear’ (Schauspiel Cologne, Director Karin Beier).

Barbara Nüsse joined the Thalia ensemble as a regular member during the 2010/2011 season.
