There have been numerous attempts to describe Currentzis as a phenomenon. For example, Berlin’s Tagesspiegel described him as a “Renaissance punk” (, 6 May 2015). There can be no doubt that Currentzis is one of the most exciting conductors today. This year’s Ruhrtriennale offers several opportunities to experience him conducting live: in addition to performances of Das Rheingold at Jahrhunderthalle Bochum (12, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24 and 26 September 2015), Currentzis will offer a concert with his orchestra on 19 September, continuing his voyage of discovery through German romanticism with masterpieces by Felix Mendelssohn and Johannes Brahms.

Johannes Brahms

Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy
