Jens Kothe

Jens Kothe was born in Bochum in 1985. After studying architecture in Dortmund from 2007 to 2009, he studied sculpture at Staatliche Bildhauerschule, Oberammergau. Since 2013, he has been studying with Andreas Gursky at Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. His works (as in the series wall object, 2014) combine sculptures with spatial and object installations and use various materials like wood, concrete, steel, glass, textile, and prints. Some of the objects in the series Main Object (2014) can be used by exhibition visitors to enable an interaction between the artwork and the human being and in the process to reflect on questions of how people use materials in their everyday life and how, conversely, materials and objects influence our life and our world of emotion. At Ruhrtriennale 2015, Jens Kothe will be working with Tim Löhde.
