Choreography of the real — What characterizes their dance above all is their openness to everything which is not dance: philosophy, music, film, art and science. Fascinating about it is the way this kind of dance can answer abstract questions with amazingly sensual images: can movement make music visible? How can we make our bodies think? How do mental and real spaces influence our concrete movements?

The French choreographer Mathilde Monnier directs Surrogates Cities Ruhr with 140 amateurs of all generations as a social sculpture, which enables us to experience the metropolis not as reality but as a process. In MONUMENT 0 the Hungarian choreographer and performer Eszter Salamon develops a dance of death moving through 100 years of war and dance history.  Two artists in conversation about choreographing the real in spaces for art.
