Gilbert Nouno

IRCAM Computer Music Designer

Gilbert Nouno is a composer, an artistic designer and associate researcher at Ircam. He was awarded the Rome Villa Medicis grant in 2011 and the Kyoto Villa Kujoyama grant in 2007. His music draws inspiration from graphic works, design or visual arts and conveys an open form for composition, at the edge of improvisation and writing. He holds a Masters and PhD degree in computer music and artificial intelligence, focusing his research on human-machine time interactions. The transdisciplinary nature of his work comes from encounters with various artists of whom Steve Coleman, Susan Buirge, Jonathan Harvey, Pierre Boulez.
