Asmik Grigorian

Soprano Asmik Grigorian was born into Armenian-lithuanian family in Vilnius, Lithuania. At the music university of her city of birth she studied piano and voice before attending numerous master classes (with Mirella Freni and Oliviera Miljakovic for example).
In 2004 she gave her stage debut as Desdemona in Verdi's Otello at the Opera Batumi (Georgia). For her triumphal debut as Violetta in Verdi's La Traviata at the Opera Vilnius she was awarded the Golden Cross of Lithuania in arts in 2005. The title part in La Traviata brought her also to the Opera of Yerevan (Armenia) and the Latvian National Opera Riga, where she has sung in numerous new productions since then.
In June 2010 she gave her debut with all three main female roles in Puccini's Il Trittico in a new production of this opera in the framework of the Riga Opera Festival at the Latvian National Opera. During the season 2010/11 the soprano performed Rusalka (title role) at the Komische Oper Berlin, Contessa/Nozze di Figaro in Warsaw, Desdemona/Otello in Vilnius, Donna Elvira/Don Giovanni in Riga, and in May/June 2011 she had a stunning success as Marie (Wozzeck) at Opera Cologne.
Her future plans include new productions at Opera Cologne, Komische Oper Berlin, the Hungarian State Opera Budapest and the Royal Danish Opera Copenhagen.
